Alice Town Yacht Charters - Bimini, Bahamas
Alice Town is a charter location in Bimini & The Berry Islands, a yacht charter area in Bahamas.
Alice Town Charter Guide
Alice Town is the historic waterfront center of North Bimini and one of the most convenient stops on a yacht charter through the Bimini Islands. Set between Bimini Harbor and the island's western beaches, the settlement places visiting yachts within walking distance of restaurants, local shops, marinas and several of Bimini's best-known attractions. The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism describes Alice Town as the main hub of tourism activity in Bimini.
For charter guests, Alice Town offers a different experience from the secluded cays and empty beaches found elsewhere in The Bahamas. King's Highway runs through the settlement past colorful buildings, small restaurants and local businesses, while Radio Beach is only a short distance away on the Atlantic side of North Bimini. The Dolphin House Museum, Bimini Craft Centre and other local landmarks make it easy to spend several hours exploring ashore between days on the water.
Alice Town is also exceptionally well positioned for exploring the rest of Bimini by yacht. South Bimini lies directly across the harbor, while Cat Cay, Gun Cay and Honeymoon Harbour can be incorporated into a southbound charter itinerary. To the north, yachts can explore more of North Bimini before continuing toward the Great Bahama Bank or beginning a longer passage deeper into The Bahamas.
Alice Town Navigation
Yachts reach Alice Town through Bimini Harbor, with the harbor entrance located south of the settlement. Shoaling and shifting sand around the entrance mean that captains should use current charts, recent local information and visual navigation rather than relying solely on previous tracks. Daylight approaches are preferable, particularly for crews visiting Bimini for the first time, as changing water color makes the surrounding shallows easier to identify.
Inside the harbor, strong reversing tidal currents should be considered when maneuvering, docking or anchoring. Alice Town's waterfront has several marina facilities, allowing yachts to berth close to the center of the settlement. Brown's Marina is located near the harbor entrance, while additional dockage is available farther inside Bimini Harbor.
Alice Town Anchorage
There are several possible anchoring areas around Alice Town, although conditions inside Bimini Harbor require careful consideration. An anchorage near the Bimini Big Game Club provides convenient access to town, but space is limited and strong reversing currents can make it less suitable for larger yachts or vessels seeking a quiet overnight stop. For this reason, many crewed charter yachts choose marina berths when staying directly in Alice Town.
Radio Beach on the western side of North Bimini provides another anchoring option in suitable weather. The location offers direct access to one of Bimini's best-known beaches, but it is considerably more exposed than the harbor and should only be considered when wind and sea conditions are favorable. Yachts planning an overnight stay should always select an anchorage according to the current forecast, vessel draft and prevailing swell.
Alice Town General Information
Alice Town is the main tourism center of Bimini and has long been closely connected with boating, sport fishing and visitors arriving from Florida. Its compact layout makes it especially convenient for yacht charter guests, with beaches, restaurants, marinas and local attractions all located within a relatively small area. Golf carts are commonly used to explore North Bimini, although much of central Alice Town can also be discovered on foot.
One of the town's most distinctive attractions is the Dolphin House Museum, created by local artist Ashley Saunders using shells, sea glass and recovered materials. Visitors can also explore the Bimini Craft Centre, Bimini Museum and Bimini War Memorial & Heroes Park, giving Alice Town a stronger cultural element than many small yacht charter stops in the surrounding islands.
