Musha Cay Yacht Charter: Private Islands, Sandbars & Luxury in the Exumas

Located in the southern-central Exumas near Rudder Cut Cay, Musha Cay is one of the most exclusive private-island destinations in the Bahamas. Owned by illusionist David Copperfield, Musha Cay forms part of the Islands of Copperfield Bay, an extraordinary private archipelago comprising 11 islands, approximately 700 acres, and 40 secluded white-sand beaches.

The surrounding waters are classic Exumas, with brilliant turquoise shallows, coral reefs, tidal sandbars, and isolated islands extending in almost every direction. For yacht guests who also have access to the resort, the experience can combine private-island hospitality with snorkeling, watersports, beach dining, nature trails, and highly personalized experiences ashore.

Musha Cay is also remarkably well suited to arriving aboard a large yacht. The resort states that its protected anchorage facilities can accommodate yachts up to 200 feet, allowing guests to combine a luxury charter through the Exumas with one of the country's most exclusive private-island stays.

Musha Cay lies immediately north of Rudder Cut, with the shallow Exuma Bank to the west and deeper Exuma Sound waters to the east. Rudder Cut provides one of the principal passages between the two sides of the Exuma chain, but significant tidal current can develop through the cut, particularly when wind and tide oppose one another. Captains should plan arrivals using current charts, tide information, visual navigation, and local knowledge.

The western side of Musha Cay contains a navigable channel and suitable deeper water for visiting yachts, while extensive shallows and sandbanks surround much of the wider archipelago. Larger yachts generally remain in the designated deeper anchoring areas and use tenders or water toys to explore the spectacular shallow-water scenery closer to the islands.

Musha Cay provides protected deep-water anchoring facilities for yachts up to approximately 200 feet, according to the island's official information. The western side of the cay has traditionally offered good holding over sand along the channel, creating a useful anchoring position for larger yachts visiting this part of the Exumas.

Captains should avoid anchoring close to the service pier and operational areas at the southwestern end of the cay, where supply vessels may need access. Musha Cay is an extremely private resort, so visiting yachts should coordinate arrangements in advance and respect restrictions on beach access, landing, and proximity to resort guests.

Musha Cay is not a conventional public yacht stop. The entire 11-island archipelago is rented exclusively to one group at a time, accommodating up to 24 guests across five private residences. The resort includes 40 beaches, private dining venues, watersports, snorkeling and diving, a swimming pool, fitness facilities, tennis, and highly customized activities.

One of its most famous natural experiences is the immense tidal sandbar known as Heaven on Earth, which emerges from the turquoise water at low tide and disappears again as the sea rises. Other experiences include Sea Turtle Cove, a hidden pink-sand beach, coral reefs, and access to the unusual underwater sculpture near neighboring Rudder Cut Cay.
